| Loan | has a defined interest rate and is fully repayable plus interest | |
| Fund | may be structured like a scholarship or bursary | |
| Bursary | usually repaid in kind by working for the organisation for as many years as you have the bursary. Usually covers full fees, and often many other expenses | |
| Scholarship | usually on the basis of academic merit or economic need – mostly non repayable but there may be certain conditions which must be met | |

SAGI Trust Fund The SAGI Trust has been formed and will be in a position to offer bursaries to students, starting in 2013. Bursary award amounts are flexible and will be determined by available funds and the particular needs of applicants. | |
